Kieler Woche Rathausplatz adventure and cinema area
During the Kiel Week 2020, the Kiel City Hall Square has been transformed into an adventure and cinema area. The adventure area is aimed primarily at families with children and includes various outdoor activities. The concert and cinema area includes a large video screen.
A varied program is shown here in the evenings, including cinema films, theater performances and, of course, live broadcasts of concerts.
The entire area around the big screen was fenced off during Kiel Week 2020 and you needed a free ticket to enter the area. After all, the Kiel Week 2020 was a very special Kiel Week. Due to the corona pandemic, there were only a handful of smaller events that required personalized tickets. The International Market, which is normally located here on the Rathausplatz during Kiel Week, did not take place in 2020. The Official Kiel Week Opening in 2020 did not take place on the stage in front of the town hall as usual. The Kiel Week 2020 opened in Schilksee without spectators. The event was broadcast live on large screens in the Schlossgarten adventure and cinema area and here on the town hall square.
