Bülk Lighthouse – the oldest lighthouse on the Kiel Fjord

Bülk Lighthouse on the Kiel Fjord – The oldest lighthouse on the Kiel Fjord is on the extreme western headland of the Fjord north of Strande in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district. The Bülk lighthouse and the adjacent lighthouse pavilion café are popular destinations.

The lighthouse in Bülk has been in operation since 1865. The viewing platform of the Bülk lighthouse is accessible to visitors. Visit is chargeable. The entrance fee is EUR 2.00 for adults and EUR 1.00 for children.

Here in Bülk on the north-west bank of the Kiel Fjord, a pilot and light house was built by Danes as early as 1807. It was also the Danes who started building the current lighthouse in 1862. But then in 1864 the German-Danish War followed and the area around Bülk fell under Prussian rule, which completed the lighthouse in 1865.
