Kiel Week Open Ship 2021 in the naval base Kiel-Wik: Open house in the Kiel naval port on September 4th, 2021 with a tour of several naval ships.

This year’s Kiel Week is a little smaller than expected due to the corona virus, but there are still some highlights this year: There is also the traditional Kiel Week Open Ship at the Kiel-Wik naval base. On Saturday, September 4th, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., the German Navy reopened the gates to visitors at the Kiel location, the naval port in Kiel-Wik at the end of the Kiel line.
However, at the Open Ship 2021 there were significantly fewer international naval ships in the Kiel naval base than usual. Only one Lithuanian mine hunter (M54 KURSIS) was in the naval port on Saturday and of course it could also be visited. Overall, the open day this year was significantly smaller than usual. Fewer ships, 3-G rule and mandatory masks for visitors throughout the base.
Visitors could only go to the naval ships that were moored at the Gorch-Fock-Mole (formerly Tirzitzmole). A total of 7 naval ships were moored here, but not all of them could be visited.

The following ships were docked at the mole:

  • A 513 Tender Rhein
  • A 514 Tender Werra
  • M 54 minesweeper Kursis (Lithuania)
  • M 1059 minesweeper Weilheim
  • M 1090 minesweeper Pegnitz
  • F 220 Frigate Hamburg
  • F 223 Frigate Nordrhein-Westfalen
