Kiel Week 2021: “Star magic over Kiel” fireworks with drone show and torch floaters – closing fireworks of the KiWo on September 12, 2021.
After the Kieler Woche closing fireworks were canceled last year due to the corona pandemic, there will be fireworks again this year on the last day of Kiel Week. The fireworks at the end of Kiel Week 2021 traditionally take place on the last day of Kiel Week, i.e. on Sunday evening. There is a good view of the fireworks in the area directly on the fjord around the keel line between Reventloubrücke and Ostseekai. But the Kiel Week fireworks over the Kiel Fjord can also be seen well from the east bank of Kiel.
Visitors to this year’s fireworks can look forward to a few innovations. Although there will be fewer explosions in the fireworks, there will be fireworks with a combined drone show for the first time in the state capital of Kiel. And the torch swimmers will also be on display again, just like at the fireworks in 2019.
Kiel Week fireworks with drone show
For the first time during Kiel Week there will also be a drone show at the end of the fireworks. According to the organizers, a total of 200 drones will then take to the skies on Sunday evening and supplement the Kieler Woche fireworks display with a hopefully spectacular light show in the sky.

From 8.30 p.m. the torch swimmers will enter the water at the Reventlou Bridge and swim towards the Ostseekai with torches. The final fireworks with light and laser show, drone show and music will begin on Sunday evening at exactly 9:21 p.m.
About the Kiel Week 2021
As should be known by now, the Kiel Week 2021 has been postponed from June to September and will take place from 04. until September 12, 2021. Due to COVID-19, the focus of this year’s Kiel Week is on sailing in the Kiel Fjord. Numerous sailing competitions will be held here again. The Kiel Week 2021 should actually be very close to the usual format with countless concerts, other events, the international market and much more. However, due to the increasing number of corona cases, it was decided at the end of July that almost all major Kiel Week events on land would be cancelled. But in addition to the final fireworks, there will be other great events, including among others Kiel Week Open Ship at the Kiel Naval Base, Kiel Week Fireworks in Schilksee on September 7th, 2021 and of course on September 11, 2021 also the windjammer parade in the Kiel Fjord, which this year will again be led by the Alexander von Humboldt II.
