Kiel Förde Ferries of the SFK: Kiel buys the second electric ferry “MS Wellingdorf”, which will be used in the future with the MS Düsternbrook, which is almost identical in construction, on the Schwentine line F2.

The tug and ferry company Kiel (SFK) signed the construction contract for the second fully electric ferry in the Netherlands last Friday, which will operate in Kiel in the future and will be called MS Wellingdorf. The shipyard is again Holland Shipyards, which has already built the two ships MS Gaarden (plug-in hybrid ferry) and MS Düsternbrook (fully electric ferry). According to the construction contract, the e-ferry MS Wellingdorf will be delivered to Kiel by the end of June 2022.

Incidentally, two more plug-in hybrid passenger ships are currently being built in the Holland Shipyards shipyard for the towing and ferry company Kiel (SFK), which, according to SFK, will be delivered in the first half of 2022.

SFK ferries: Schwentine Line F2 completely emission-free from 2022

When the MS Wellingdorf, the second e-ferry, is in use from mid-2022, the Schwentineline F2 between the west bank of Kiel and the mouth of the Schwentine will be completely emission-free with the three berths at Reventloubrücke, Dietrichsdorf and Wellingdorf. A big step for the port of Kiel in terms of the environmentally and climate-friendly aspects of the new e-ferry MS Wellingdorf.
