At the federal-state summit, further measures to contain the corona pandemic were decided, which according to Prime Minister Daniel Günther should also be implemented in Schleswig-Holstein. In addition to 2G in retail (with the exception of shops for everyday needs and 2G-Plus in hotels from mid-December 2021, 2G and a spectator limit will apply to stadiums and halls in the future. According to this, only 50 percent of the spectators are allowed in halls and stadiums with a maximum limit of 15,000 spectators in stadiums and 5,000 spectators in halls or closed rooms.
For Holstein Kiel, this COVID-19 regulation means that only a maximum of 7,500 spectators are allowed at home games in the Holstein Stadium. Of course, these regulations also apply to the two teams in the Handball Bundesliga from Kiel and Flensburg. At the home games of Flensburg-Handewitt, only up to 3,000 spectators may be present and for THW Kiel the maximum number of spectators at home games in the Wunderino Arena is 5,000 people.
