Sparkassen-Arena Kiel becomes Wunderino-Arena – The online casino has secured the naming rights to the Kiel Arena for five years.
It is now around 12 years since the Ostseehalle Kiel was renamed to Sparkassen-Arena. Now the Kiel multifunctional hall on Europaplatz and venue of the home games of THW Kiel is about to change its name again. The online casino Wunderino has secured the naming rights for 5 years and also has an option for another five years. Therefore, the Kiel Sparkassen-Arena will be renamed the Wunderino-Arena on July 1, 2020. THW Kiel will also soon wear Wunderino jerseys. The Wunderino sponsorship contract with TWH Kiel runs for two years.
Although it has been more than 10 years since the Ostseehalle became the Sparkassen-Arena, the arena is still called the Ostseehalle by many people in Kiel. And from the middle of the year it will be the Wunderino Arena where THW Kiel handball games, concerts, trade fairs and other events will take place. However, sponsor names for stadiums and halls are absolutely not uncommon. And if at some point the sponsor changes, then there is usually a name change as well. The best example of this is the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg, which was called AOL Arena from 2001-2007, HSH Nordbank Arena from 2007-2010 and Imtech Arena from 2010-2015.
