Sailing training ship Shabab Oman II is coming to Kiel on Friday: The 87 meter long sailing training ship of the Royal Navy of Oman will be visiting Kiel for the first time.

On the occasion of the Kiel Week 2022, a rare guest will moor at the Kiel-Wik naval base next to the Goch Fock at the Gorch-Fock-Mole (formerly Tirpitzmole) on Friday (June 17th, 2022). Another sail training ship, the Shabab Oman II, which was put into service in 2014, will head for a port in Germany for the first time. The sail training ship from Oman is 87 meters long, 11 meters wide and has a sail area of 2,700 square meters. In terms of size, the Shabab Oman II has almost similar dimensions to the sailing training ship Gorch Fock.

The Shabab Oman II was already en route in the Baltic Sea in 2017, but did not call at a German port. As part of their “Peace & Friendship Sail Baltic Sea 2017” the sail training ship from the Middle East was in Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Lithuania and Poland.
