Gifts after Christmas parties: Several thousand club visitors in Schleswig-Holstein have to be quarantined after other clubs have been affected by Omicron cases.
A lot of work for the health authorities in Schleswig-Holstein after the Christmas holidays: In several clubs, visitors have been infected with the contagious omicron variant, including the “Max” club in Kiel on Eckernforder Strasse. Other clubs and discos in Rendsburg, Bad Segeberg, Trittau, Kampen (Sylt), Pahlen and Henstedt-Ulzburg are also affected. Among other things, the Kiel health department is currently asking everyone who stayed in the Max discotheque in Kiel between 11:30 p.m. and 3:30 a.m. on December 25 to go into quarantine immediately.
Stricter quarantine rules apply to Omikron than to the previously prevailing Delta variant. Close contacts are asked to quarantine at home for 14 days after contact. This also applies to those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered. A free test is not possible. Close contacts – in this case, this includes all guests of the discotheque – must contact the health department in their home town or district. (Source: press release Kiel.de)
At the moment, the number of visitors who now have to go into quarantine is over 3,000 people, and the trend is rising. Visitors to the clubs concerned must now go into domestic quarantine for 14 days. This applies regardless of the vaccination status, i.e. also for those who have been vaccinated and for those who have recovered. Free testing is not possible in the case of Omikron, a COVID-19 variant.
