Naval ships in the naval base and the Kiel Fjord: Standing NATO mine countermeasures group 1 in Kiel until Monday morning.
At the weekend there were once again more naval ships in the Kiel naval port than usual, including two ships from the Norwegian Navy that were moored at the Gorch-Fock-Mole. Because NATO’s permanent mine countermeasures association 1 (SNMCMG1) was a guest at the Kiel naval base for a few days. Supplies and fuel were replenished and the ship’s crew was able to use the time at the base to go ashore in Kiel. Here the naval ships are moored together with the sailing training ship Gorch Fock on the pier in glorious sunshine on Sunday, February 19th, 2023.
The NATO task force is led by the Royal Norwegian Navy’s deep-sea patrol ship A 531 Nordkapp.
Mine Countermeasures Unit 1 consists of the following ships:
- A 531 Nordkapp (Norwegian Navy)
- M 351 Otra (Norwegian Navy)
- M 860 Schiedam (Dutch Navy)
- M 1061 Rottweil (German Navy)
On Monday, February 20, 2023, the task force left the naval base in Kiel for the Baltic Sea.
