Opening of Kiel Week 2023 on June 17, 2023 in Kiel on Saturday evening on the town hall stage on the town hall square, directly in front of the Kiel town hall.
The official opening of the Kiel Week traditionally takes place on Saturday at 7.30 p.m. on the Rathausplatz. Several thousand spectators take part in the opening ceremony on the town hall stage every year. The Kiel Week will be opened by Kiel’s Lord Mayor (Ulf Kaempfer), the Prime Minister (Daniel Günther), the City President (Hans-Werner Tovar) and a guest, a person from business, politics or sport.
During the Kieler Woche, the Rathausbühne and the International Market are located here on the Rathausplatz.
Due to the corona pandemic / COVID-19, the Kiel Week was postponed from June to September in 2020 and 2021 and the opening did not take place on the Rathausplatz but in Schilksee.
Since 2022, the official Kieler Woche opening has been taking place as usual on the Rathausbühne in Kiel’s Rathausplatz, with thousands of spectators. So come by the Kiel Week, which takes place from 17.06. until June 25th, 2023 in Kiel.
