Open day at the coastal power plant in Kiel on Sunday, June 12, 2022 with a varied program on the site of Europe’s most modern power plant.
On June 12, 2022, the coastal power plant on the east bank of Kiel in the Neumühlen-Dietrichsdorf district will open its doors for an open day. Interested visitors can visit the most modern power plant in Europe this Sunday. There is also a colorful program for the whole family including live music, a bouncy castle, an e-kart track, food trucks and much more.
The coastal power plant is operated by Stadtwerke Kiel. The power plant supplies district heating and electrical energy for around 70,000 households and was put into operation in November 2019 and has since replaced the neighboring community power plant in Kiel, a coal-fired power plant that generated electricity from 1970 to 2019 with imported hard coal.
