You don’t see this XXL dredger every day: the world’s largest dredger “Magnor” was towed through the Kiel Canal<\/a> on August 16, 2023.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The two tugboats Sea Vanquish and Bosch formed a tugboat combination with the 69 meter long Magnor on Wednesday morning and ensured that the oversized dredger was transported safely through the canal and the lock system in Kiel-Holtenau. The three long stilts that stabilize the floating dredger Magnor on the seabed were also very conspicuous.<\/p>\n

Of course, the 69 meter long and 20 meter floating dredger also has an XXL shovel that can hold up to 40 cubic meters of content. That corresponds to about 67 tons. The floating dredger Magnor, built in 2016, is in use worldwide and has already worked in Singapore, Australia and Lithuania (Klaipeda), among other places. The Magnor has also been used in the construction of the Fehmarnbelt tunnel between Germany and Denmark. And this is exactly where the floating dredger Magnor was transported. A few hours after the large dredger had left the Kiel Canal and the Kiel Fjord<\/a> behind, it arrived on Lolland in Denmark and is now moored in Rodbyhavn.<\/p>\n
