70 meter submarine “Impeccable” in the Kiel Canal<\/a> and the Kiel Fjord<\/a> on April 28, 2023 on the return trip from Rendsburg to the TKMS shipyard in Kiel.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Here the approximately 70 meter long submarine RSS Impeccable of the Singapore Navy (TKMS Submarine 02) is underway in the Kiel Canal between the Holtenauer Hochbrücke and the Kiel-Holtenau canal lock and then in the Kiel Fjord on the way from Rendsburg back to the TKMS shipyard in Kiel.<\/p>\n

Located in the Borgstedter See near Rendsburg and on the Kiel Canal is a geomagnetic field simulator of the German Navy’s Defense Technical Service 71 for measuring the magnetic signature of naval vehicles such as the submarine class 212 A or minesweepers. Here the newly built submarine RSS Impeccable, a Type 218 SG submarine of the Invincible class, was degaussed. Now a standard procedure on almost all modern submarines.<\/p>\n

TKMS has built the submarine Impeccable, now temporarily named TKMS Submarine 02, for the Singapore Navy (RSN). The launch took place a few months earlier on December 13, 2022 at ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) in Kiel. With a length of about 70 meters, this submarine is one of the largest submarines built in Germany. The Impeccable is one of four submarines ordered by the Republic of Singapore Navy from ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems. The commissioning of three of the four submarines (RSS Invincible, RSS Impeccable and RSS Illustrious) is expected to take place in 2023.<\/p>\n
