Christmas market Kiel 2022 opened on Monday (November 21, 2022): An overview of the four Christmas markets in the city center.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Every year, the Kiel Christmas markets attract many visitors to the city center of Kiel on Rathausplatz (Kiel Christmas Village<\/a>), Holstenplatz, Asmus-Bremer-Platz<\/a> and the slightly smaller Christmas market on Bernhard-Minetti-Platz in Holtenauer Strasse. And after two years of the corona pandemic, the Christmas market in Kiel 2022 will finally take place again without corona restrictions, mask requirements or other COVID-19 restrictions.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, the joy is partly a little clouded, namely among the stand operators of the Christmas markets and probably also among numerous visitors. Because the current trend that everything is becoming significantly more expensive is also clearly noticeable in the form of price increases at the Christmas market in Kiel. Mulled wine, bratwurst, roasted almonds and actually everything that is offered at the Christmas markets has become a little more expensive compared to the previous year. This year, for example, mulled wine usually costs from EUR 4.50 per cup plus a deposit. Accordingly, mulled wine with a shot is usually a little more.<\/p>\n

Of course, the stand operators also have to contend with higher costs and pass the price increases on to visitors to the Christmas markets. However, for many visitors (or rather, potential visitors and customers), the current prices for mulled wine and bratwurst may have become a bit too expensive, and some Kielers may be doing without mulled wine at the Christmas market this year and drinking a few cups of mulled wine at home instead .<\/p>\n

For everyone who is still planning a visit to the Kiel Christmas markets: This year the Christmas markets in Kiel will again be open daily up to and including December 23, 2022. With the exception of the Christmas market on Asmus-Bremer-Platz, which is also open this year beyond the Christmas period until December 30, 2022.<\/p>\n

No matter what the weather is like: Here at the Christmas market on Holstenplatz you can stroll around, drink a mulled wine, eat a bratwurst or, of course, find the right Christmas present at one of the numerous artisan stands. Due to the proximity to the Sophienhof shopping center and Holstenstraße, shopping and the Christmas market can be wonderfully combined.<\/p>\n

The Kiel Christmas Village 2022 will again offer, among other things, taverns and numerous huts, all in Nordic design. There are Feuerzangenbowle, Glögg, Nordic delicatessen specialties and much more at the stands. In addition, there are of course Christmas gift ideas, jewellery, Nordic handicrafts and a children’s carousel in the Kiel Christmas Village.<\/p>\n

The highlight in the Kiel Christmas village on the town hall square is without question the imp Kilian and his Christmas cog. Here the Christmas elf Kilian flies on a tightrope over the Christmas market in the direction of the town hall tower. Gnome Kilian flies three times a day (at 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7.30 p.m.) in his mini cog, pulled by his reindeer, over the Kiel Christmas Village on the Rathausplatz.<\/p>\n

This year again, the around 12 meter high Christmas pyramid is on Ausmus-Bremer-Platz, surrounded by numerous smaller stands, stalls and bar tables as well as places to sit and relax. Here on the centrally located Asmus-Bremer-Platz there will again be various hot drinks, cold drinks, suckling pig, bratwurst, baked goods and confectionery, handicrafts and decorative items.<\/p>\n

Christmas market Kiel Bernhard-Minetti-Platz<\/h2>\n

The smallest of all Kiel Christmas markets is again on Bernhard-Minetti-Platz on Holtenauer Straße at the corner of Knooper Weg. The 26 meter high pyramid was also rebuilt here. There are also a few stands and stalls where you can drink one or the other mulled wine.<\/p>\n

This year there is no mask requirement or other restrictions. Of course, every visitor is free to decide whether they want to wear mouth and nose protection to the Christmas market or not.<\/p>\n
