Review: Exactly one year ago today, on June 22nd, 2019, the Kiel Week 2019 was officially opened on the Rathausplatz. This year’s Kiel Week would have opened a few days ago, but as is well known, the Kiel Week 2020 was postponed to September due to Corona.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It has been known since mid-March 2020 that the Kiel Week 2020 will not take place at the end of June as usual. Due to the new type of corona virus, all major events throughout Germany were canceled months ago. Among other things, the Hanse Sail Rostock in August 2020, which was completely canceled for this year. The world-famous Oktoberfest in Munich will also not take place this year due to Corona. The list of canceled events seems endless and this is where the Kiel Week comes in. At least partially. Because unlike the major events in Rostock and Munich mentioned, there is a ray of hope, especially for all sailing fans. Because the Kiel Week 2020 was postponed from June to September<\/a>. However, the Kiel Week program in September will be a little different than usual.<\/p>\n

Kiel week without big stages and concerts<\/h2>\n

The Kiel Week 2020 will now take place from September 5th to 13th. And the main focus will be on sailing and the area around Schilksee<\/a>. From a press release from the Kiel Week:<\/p>\n

From September 5th to 13th, national and international sailors will be able to demonstrate their skills on the regatta courses. The “KiWo” program on land will look significantly different than usual – event areas and large stages that attract many thousands of people cannot exist due to the corona pandemic.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
