New Year’s Eve 2020 without fireworks sales – It was a very quiet New Year’s Eve this year without any major fireworks, without crowds in the streets at midnight and of course without the usual big New Year’s Eve parties.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In many places, including of course in Kiel, things were much quieter on New Year’s Eve this year than in previous years. The sale of Fererwerk articles was prohibited nationwide and due to the existing COVID-19 contact restrictions, the usual larger and larger New Year’s Eve parties were not permitted. No matter whether larger privately organized New Year’s Eve parties or the otherwise very popular New Year’s Eve celebrations of restaurants, bars and other organizers could not take place due to the Corona contact restrictions.<\/p>\n

Although it was not possible to buy New Year’s Eve items this year, the fireworks themselves were permitted on New Year’s Eve. However, in most cities there were no-go zones where the lighting of fireworks was not allowed. These were usually centrally located and popular places in places such as the station forecourt in Kiel. In the Kiel city area, rockets, batteries and firecrackers were ignited here and there around midnight. However, it was significantly less than in previous years.<\/p>\n

This year I had also decided not to watch the New Year’s Eve fireworks on Holtenauer Straße at midnight. There was certainly a lot less going on there on New Year’s Eve 2020\/2021 than in previous years, for example here in retrospect of New Year’s Eve 2019\/2020 on Holtenauer Straße<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Due to Corona, there were no big games like the New Year’s Eve celebrations in Berlin at the Brandenburg Gate this year either. Thailand, on the other hand, was one of the few exceptions. Because Bangkok, Thailand’s capital, welcomed the new year 2021 with a large and spectacular fireworks display<\/a>. However, Thailand has coped quite well with the corona pandemic so far with a total of less than 10,000 corona cases.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
