DESCRIPTION:Kiel Week 2022: Sailing and summer festival in the state capital of Kiel in Schleswig-Holstein. \nThe Kiel Week is an annual sailing regatta that has been held in Kiel on the Kiel Fjord since the end of the 19th century. It is considered one of the largest sailing events in the world. In recent decades\, a folk festival has also developed on the quay walls of the tall ships\, although the core of the Kiel Week has always remained the sailing competitions. \nIn addition to the sporting aspects\, the Kiel Week includes an extensive program with over 2\,000 individual events\, including performances by international and regional bands and artists who offer live music in around 300 concerts on 16 stages. \nThere are also performances by numerous local groups on smaller stages. More than 3 million guests visit the Kiel Week every year\, including numerous naval units from over 10 nations. \nThe maritime highlight is the windjammer parade (annually since 1998) on the last Saturday of the festival week\, in which more than 100 tall and traditional sailing ships\, historic steamships and hundreds of sailing yachts take part. \nAttention: Due to the corona pandemic\, the Kiel Week in 2020 and 2021 was postponed from June to September due to corona. The focus of the Kiel Week in these two years was on sailing. DESCRIPTION:Kiel Week Windjammer Parade 2022 in the Kiel Fjord on June 25th\, 2022 – maritime highlight of the Kiel Week with over 100 participating sailing ships. \nThe windjammer parade in Kiel during Kiel Week is one of the highlights of the annual Kiel Week. When the windjammer parade takes place\, always on the last Saturday of Kiel Week\, tens of thousands of spectators are drawn to the west and east banks of the Kiel Fjord. \nWindjammer parade 2022\nAs always\, the sailing parade started on Saturday\, June 25\, 2021 at 11 a.m. in Kiel’s inner fjord and is heading towards the Friedrichsort lighthouse and the outer fjord. Of course\, there is also the opportunity to watch the windjammer parade from land\, for example from the Falckensteiner beach\, from the Holtenau lighthouse on the Förde or from the east bank of Kiel\, for example at the Möltenort submarine memorial. Of course\, sailing on one of the numerous participating ships will also be possible this year. \nDue to the corona pandemic\, the Kiel Week was postponed from June to September in the two previous years 2020 and 2021. DESCRIPTION:Kiel Week Fireworks 2022: Kiel Week closing fireworks with drone show and torch floats on June 26\, 2022 at the end of this year’s Kiel Week. \nThe fireworks at the end of Kiel Week 2021 traditionally take place on the last day of Kiel Week\, i.e. on Sunday evening. There is a good view of the fireworks in the area directly on the fjord around the keel line between Reventloubrücke and Ostseekai. But the Kiel Week fireworks over the Kiel Fjord can also be seen well from the east bank of Kiel. \nKiel Week fireworks with drone show\nLast year\, for the first time during Kiel Week\, there was also a drone show. According to the organizer\, a total of 200 drones rose into the sky on Sunday evening and complemented the Kiel Week fireworks with a spectacular light show in the sky. \nKiel Week Fireworks 2022\nAs a rule\, the torch swimmers start first in the fjord and swim from the Reventlou bridge parallel to the Kiellinie to the Ostseekai. The torch floats start at 9:45 p.m. at the Reventlou Bridge. A few minutes later\, at 11:00 p.m.\, the fireworks begin and illuminate the Kiel night sky.
